Hi-DRI - Membrane Dryer Launch
09/11/2011

The new range of Hi-DRI compressed air membrane dryers from Hi-line Industries have been re-engineered to be technologically superior products, achieving new standards for reliability, performance and energy efficiency. They feature a patented arrangement of structurally packed, permeable hollow fibres spirally wound on a support core. This creates an optimised design combining efficient air flow with high contact areas to maximise the drying performance within a compact unit size. These products are ideal for in-line installation to ensure the delivery of dry compressed air at the point of use. This ensures maximum effectiveness with virtually any dewpoint or degree of drying being achievable. As the humid compressed air passes through the Hi-DRI unit, water vapour diffuses through the walls of the hollow membrane fibres without loss of compressed air. At the dryer outlet, a small volume of the now dry air is expanded and released into the annular space between the membrane fibres and the outer aluminium shell. This air purge then sweeps away entrained water vapour to atmosphere as a humid air stream. The Hi-DRI air dryer makes it easier and less expensive to supply pneumatic equipment and instrumentation with clean, dry compressed air. This simple, proven technology helps eliminate condensation, oxidation and microbial growth, resulting in reliable and predictable performance of downstream air operated equipment. It also reduces component failures, improves equipment performance and operator satisfaction while showing savings on both warranty and production costs. These dryers are designed to provide the superior solution for existing compressed air systems, maintaining maximum process reliability while remaining virtually invisible to the process installation. They do not contain moving parts and there are no desiccants or refrigerant to replace. They are also compact and lightweight, do not incorporate valves, drains or electrical connectors and do not require adjustments. These Hi-DRI membrane air dryers are suitable for a wide range of industrial plant installations including specialised commercial operations. The range of models available cover air flow rates from 17 to 1050 litres/min. Multiple dryer units can be used in parallel to achieve higher flows where required. Outlet dewpoints from +15° to -40°C can be achieved at 7 barg pressure (12.5 barg max) and with 35°C inlet air temperatures.

Zero Loss Dryers Now Even Smarter and More Efficient
23/06/2011

The range of successful smart adsorption air dryers launched by Hi-line Industries Ltd have been even further enhanced by the addition of touch-screen technology incorporated into their automatic energy management system (AEMS). This cutting edge facility enables remote dial-in control via mobile phone or laptop, while even lower running costs are achieved by using a blower/fan, rather than the more expensively produced compressed air, for desiccant regeneration. The AEMS controller features a zero loss heater blower programme and undertakes constant monitoring and analysis of the dryer load parameters, while making necessary adjustments to the dryer cycle to ensure continuous maximum efficiency. This maintains the lowest possible running costs coupled with regeneration at the lowest energy tariff which also ensuring that the compressed air inlet conditions are matched to the dewpoint required. This advanced controller comes as a factory-fitted attachment with the new range of Hi-line HBP-TS series dryers, but can also be supplied for retro-fitting to any make of existing dumb dryer, to upgrade such units to the level of the latest smart dryers. These products achieve dewpoints of -70° PDP without loss of expensive compressed air and are available with flow rates from 10 up to 10,000 scfm. They feature thermally efficient, generous, fully insulated vessels, with heaters and heat-exchangers. Waste heat utilisation from steam, oil or compression can be optionally used where available, with a fan motor also optimised for maximum use with minimum power consumption. Stainless steel pipework is fitted as standard with independent fail-safe switching valves and full-flow LPD check valves incorporated. Pressure equalisation and heater protection systems are also provided, eliminating pressure fluctuations and maintaining safety standards. The state-of-the-art control panel with AEMS provides a touch-screen user interface with indicator panel where digital dewpoint, pressure, heater and electrical displays, together with the cycle stepping time are shown on screen. Regeneration temperatures are controlled from the PLC with cycle times matched to demand and triggered by the dewpoint control setting. The equipment is manufactured on site in the UK to the highest British/European standards covering pressure vessels and pipework welding, together with EEC machinery directive and current wiring regulations. Dryers are designed to occupy the smallest footprint, so not wasting valuable production space, with bespoke dryers also supplied to suit specific customer requirements. Installation and commissioning is included in the selling price, with a one-year warranty covering parts and labour. Nationwide service support is available with a five year warranty and a service contract is also available.

Replacement Filter Elements
07/04/2011
REPLACEMENT FILTER ELEMENTS WITH UNIVERSAL FITTING FEATURE A unique range of high performance replacement filter elements are available from Hi-line Industries Ltd. These are offered at competitive prices and cross reference over 250,000 different filters, providing viable alternatives for a very wide range of filtration products from a large number of competitive manufacturers, including those with housings incorporating swan neck, bayonet or other proprietary fixing connections. The practice of utilising bespoke connections of this type has previously locked-in end users to a specific supplier, with their customers usually committed to paying any supplier premium for the lifetime duration of the original filtration equipment. As well as breaking this pernicious cycle, the Hi-line universal products are designed to fit all manufacturers filter housings, typically showing a 75% cost saving while also generally out-performing the original filter element equipment. The use of high quality components during manufacture includes the Hi-line proprietary Microflex filter media. This has a tapered pore structure which ensures 99.99999% particle removal down to 0.01 micron in size. This media is used to manufacture elements with a pleated structure, which essentially provides four times more filtration area than conventionally wrapped elements. This ensures lower differential pressures, increased flow characteristics, longer service life and greater contaminant holding capabilities. Hi-line’s unique computerised filter cross reference table allows a cost effective Hi-line alternative element to be supplied quickly once the original part number has been entered. These elements combine maximum chemical and thermal capabilities, with optimum availability in a wide range of sizes, end cap materials and fixing configurations. They can be supplied for particulate removal, vacuum mist elimination, the supply of instrument air, together with both coalescing and odour absorption applications. They are also designed to fit directly into existing filter housings without the need for any modifications or special fitting kits. Popular sizes are available for next day delivery as drop-in replacements for most filter elements currently in the market.
Nitro-Gen N2 generators show value for money
18/03/2011

Nitro-Gen energy efficient Nitrogen Generators from Hi-line are providing UK manufacturing with value for money engineering solutions. Nitrogen has been used for many years in manufacturing and more recently in the Food Processing Sector to provide Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) for perishable foods. Historically, this nitrogen has been shipped in daily or weekly by tanker and stored on site until required. Recently with high transport and fuel costs impacting on Nitrogen delivery as well as the Carbon Footprint, business is looking for more cost effective ways to use Nitrogen. An alternative is to generate nitrogen on site. Hi-line N2 Generators work on the PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) principle which gives a much higher purity than membrane type technology. Purity levels from 95% to 99.995% can be achieved with our compact twin tower high flow units. With our award winning touch screen control technology and on board Oxygen analyser, purity, pressure and flow are constantly monitored to give the customer their exact requirement. For a free site survey to assess your specific application contact Hi-line Industries for a energy saving alternative to Nitrogen supply.
